Amerykanie przestają być narodem hurraoptymistów - cokolwiek infantylnych - ale jednak. I w ekspresowym tempie przeistaczają się w zgorzkniałych, zestresowanych pesymistów niepewnych jutra. 63 % spośród nich twierdzi, iż przyszłość narodu ameerykańskiego jest dla nich bardzo poważnym lub dosyć poważnym źródłem stresu. Jest to najpoważniejszy czynnik deprymujący Amerykanów - wyprzedzający takie czynniki stresu jak: obawa o pieniądze ( 62 %) czy praca ( 61%). Ogromny odsetek Amerykanów - 59 % - uważa także, iż obecne czasy są najgorszym momentem w historii USA, "dokąd sięgają pamięcią". Owa "pamięć" obejmuje II wojnę, wojnę koreańską, wojnę w Wietnamie, kryzys rakietowy, atak na wieże 11 września 2001 r. Dla 59 % obecne głębokie podziały społeczne w USA są źródłem stresu.
Zainteresowanych kondycją psyche amerykańskiego odsyłam do podlinkowanego materiału - w którym multum smętnych danych jak wyżej.
Ciekawym, czy ów depresyjny dół w który staczają się Amerykanie - generuje u nich zmiany codziennych zachowań i przyzwyczajeń? Czy nadal na pytanie: "how are you?" odpowiadają "fine", "great" ? A nawet jeżeli tak - to czy nadal z takim tryskającym entuzjazmem w głosie - jak to onegdaj robili, gdy zmartwień nie było albo były ciągle ukryte poza horyzontem. Bo jeżeli swego psychicznego doła maskują plastikowymi uśmoechami i pseudodziarskimi zapewnieniami że jest "great" - to jest jeszcze gorzej z nimi niżby na to wskazywały statystyki jak wyżej.


"WASHINGTON — Nearly two-thirds of Americans (63 percent) say the future of the nation is a very or somewhat significant source of stress, slightly more than perennial stressors like money (62 percent) and work (61 percent), according to the American Psychological Association’s report, "Stress in America™: The State of Our Nation".
More than half of Americans (59 percent) said they consider this the lowest point in U.S. history that they can remember — a figure spanning every generation, including those who lived through World War II and Vietnam, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
When asked to think about the nation this year, nearly six in 10 adults (59 percent) report that the current social divisiveness causes them stress. A majority of adults from both political parties say the future of the nation is a source of stress, though the number is significantly higher for Democrats (73 percent) than for Republicans (56 percent) and independents (59 percent)."
