W morzu u wybrzeży Norwegii od pewnego czasu systematycznie obserwowane są galaretowate kule, o średnicy około jednego metra, niemalże przeźroczyste - w środku których znajduje się struktura przypominająca kształtem zarodek. Owe dziwne twory - jakby z dreszczowca "The Abyss" Jamesa Camerona - zostały sfotografowane przez płetwonurków - i są do obajrzenia w podlinkowanym materiale. Naukowcy podjrzewają, iż sa to jaja kałamarnicy olbrzymiej, wystepującej licznie w otchłaniach morskich u wybrzeży Norwegii. Pewności jednakże co do tego nie ma. Galaretowate obiekty jak wyżej zostały także zaobserwowane u wybrzeży Alaski, Szwecji oraz Turcji. Zagadkę najpewniej rozwiązałaby analiza hemogenetyczna sunstancji galaretowatej jak wyżej - ale jak do tej pory nie udało się zdobyć jej próbki. Stąd apel naukowców do amatorów - płetwonurków o kontakt z nimi ( w podlinkowanym materiale znajduje się stosowny adres) w przypadku gdyby udało im się przypadkiem wejść w jej posiadanie.
